How to Import Flutter Project in Android Studio?

Flutter:

Flutter is developed by Google and it is an open-source UI toolkit. We can also say it is a framework for creating some effective, beautiful native Android and iOS applications from a single codebase.

It means that we don’t have to worry about different platforms for building separate apps for Android and iOS. We can develop a single app that would go for both platforms. The programming language Dart is used in Flutter to develop applications.

Android Studio:

Android Studio is the official IDE for developing all kinds of Android applications. It is supported by Intellij IDEA, an IDE for writing JAVA code. Android Studio has a variety of effective features to help developers create regular complex Android applications.

It supports the full-featured Android emulator, allowing users to emulate the applications they develop. This emulator also has great features. You can test your application at any level of this emulator before deploying it to a real device.

Let’s say we have already had a Flutter Project in the directory named Flutter. Before importing this project into the Android Studio we have to install two plugins in the Android Studio, here’s how we do it.

Step 1:

First you will be required to open the Android Studio. After opening it you will have to select tools from the menu bar, and click on SDK Manager.

Step 2:

In the new window which is open you will have to click on the plugins. After that you will have to search in the search bar for Flutter and Dart. Once you find it then install Flutter and Dart.

Step 3:

Now after you install Flutter and Dart you are ready to import a Flutter project. To import the Flutter project you just have to go for File>New>Import Project.

Step 4:

Then select the directory where your Flutter project already exists in a new pop-up window. In this case, you have a test app project. After that click on that directory and we have successfully imported an existing Flutter project in Android Studio.

Step 5:

Now you have a default .dart page with sample code already written. You can select Chrome Web as the device and run the application by clicking the green play button and it will run the application. The result will be the required web page.
